RDC Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (shortened as RDC), leaded by Mr. Jack Chen , is the first Taiwan IC design house focusing on high performance SoC with embedded features, power management and networking access. Owning core technologies on 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit micro-controllers with low power consumption but high performance, RDC keeps on developing communication devices (such as network processors) and other key technologies. RDC’s network processors integrate several peripheral interface and thus pretty flexible for further expansion. Comparing to similar network processor of competitors’, the one from RDC operates at a frequency two times higher, yet saves electricity up to 50%. Most of them are applied and designed-win in various fields, such as networking, communication controller, IA, and consumer products. Besides, RDC team successfully adapted the technology of RISC architecture in the micro-controller development in a 100% clean-room environment, and acquired several important proprietary technologies. At the moment, there are many RDC 16-bit micro-controllers being largely produced for years and being really popular with the customers worldwide. Additionally, RDC developed five 8-bit IP products (Standard, Turbo, Twin-turbo, Turbo-Enhance and Turbo-eXtra) which can operate at a frequency up to 66 MHz. After passing function verifications and compatibility tests, now they are all ready for mass production.
Though micro-controllers are more and more applied nowadays, in Taiwan as well as worldwide, over 80% of the market is occupied by European, American and Japanese semiconductor manufacturers.
